Showcase

This showcase is the culmination of the skills and projects I have developed throughout my career. It showcases some of my abilities and knowledge related to technology and education. It is seperated into the themes Envision, Enable, and Engage. It is important for Educational Technologists (ET) to be able to envision the future because 65% of jobs of the future havn't been invented yet. Next, to enable fellow teachers and students by giving them the knowledge and tools to success in the 21st century is critical as it provides a foundation for learning into the future. Finally, it is important for ETs to engage their learners because half of the job is to gain buy in and inspire others to use technology.  These are the core values of Educational Technologists and I believe they will help to guide me and other Educational Technologists into the future.

Envision

The ability to envision the future of education and the future needs of society is essential for any Educational Technologist.

This is a presentation that I created to help define the role of Educational Technologists (ET) in schools. There are often problems understanding what ET's role is in education. I really enjoyed creating this presentation in Prezi. It is a very dynamic software and it is easy to create.

Enable

The ability to enable educators and students through training and encouragement is another key skill for any Educational Technologist.

TECHSMITH REVIEW

CONFERENCE PRESENTATION

This was my review on Techsmith Fuse and relay program. This was my first time using Camtasia to review a technology. It was fun to do an in depth review of a new product. I also learned many techniques in Camtasia that will be helpful in the future.

During a technology conference I had the opportunity to do a presentation with my colleague and friend Ray Stucky. He was an excellent partner and we created this presentation to promote solving problems in education using different technologies.

DODEA DATABASES

I used this project to help promote the use of Dodea Databases at our school for research purposes. The Information Specialist and I collaborated on this project and presented it to the entire school population. It was a rousing success and many teachers continue to use the databases.

Engage

The ability to engage and inspire students and teachers to use technology in their learning is an enduring lesson for all Educational Technologists.

CREATIVITY BOARD GAME

I used this project to create a fun way to deliver knowledge. I based this design off of the Monopoly board game. I thought this was one of my most intriguing and creative projects. I can't wait to use this in a meeting. It may help inspiring teachers creativity as well.

SIGTEL POSTER

SIGTEL stands for Small Interest Group in Tablet Enhanced Learning. This was completed with my colleagues and was extremely rewarding. None of the group knew anything about tablets, but when we started to explore we became near experts. I designed and created this poster to present the ideas we discovered to the class.

TPACK LESSON

TPACK is an educational technology philosophy that blends technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge (TPACK) in order to create lessons that are engaging, effective, and transformative. This is a venn diagram that assists in solving the issue of professional development using Schoology as the technology.

Prezi Pulling Focus

My first presentation outside of Kadena Elementary School using Prezi was for my entrance into the Masters program at Michigan State. I really enjoyed using this software to present. It has a lot of very interesting features like zooming, excellent graphics, and voice overs. It also provides lots of templates for quick presentations.
